Lapis Lazuli Ore

Lapis Lazuli Ore is a mineral block that generates underground and is the primary source of lapis lazuli. It drops 4–9 lapis lazuli when mined with a stone pickaxe or better, or itself if mined with a Silk Touch-enchanted tool. Lapis Lazuli Ore generates in two batches per chunk: one from levels -32 to 32, peaking at level 0, and another from levels -64 to 64, with the second batch unable to generate exposed to air. If replacing deepslate, it forms the rarer Deepslate Lapis Lazuli Ore.

The Fortune enchantment increases the drop rate of lapis lazuli, with Fortune III potentially yielding up to 36 lapis per block. The ore also drops 2–5 XP when mined without Silk Touch. Lapis lazuli is mainly used for enchanting, crafting blue dyes, and decorating banners. Smelting the ore also produces lapis lazuli, and it can be placed under note blocks to produce 'bass drum' sounds.
