Dropper
The Dropper is a Redstone component that dispenses items as entities or transfers them into containers. It is commonly used in item sorting systems, automatic farms, and Redstone contraptions. A Dropper is crafted using 7 Cobblestone and 1 Redstone Dust in a 3×3 crafting grid. It does not generate naturally and must be crafted by the player.
When activated by a Redstone signal, a Dropper ejects an item from its inventory. If a container (such as a Chest, Hopper, or another Dropper) is in front of it, the item is placed inside instead of being dropped as an entity. Unlike a Dispenser, a Dropper does not activate or use items—it only drops them as if the player had thrown them. This makes it useful for transporting items in Redstone systems without accidental activation.
A Dropper can be mined with any tool, but pickaxes break it the fastest. Unlike a Hopper, a Dropper does not pull items but instead pushes them forward when powered, making it essential for controlled item movement in automation setups.
