Sharpness

Sharpness is a versatile melee enchantment for swords and axes that increases damage against all hostile mobs and players. This popular enchantment can be obtained through enchanting tables, villager trading, fishing, and various loot chests throughout Minecraft worlds.

Sharpness comes in five levels, with damage scaling differently between Java and Bedrock editions. In Java Edition, it adds 1-3 extra damage using the formula 0.5 × level + 0.5. Bedrock Edition provides 1-6 extra damage with higher scaling at upper levels.

Only golden weapons can receive Sharpness V directly from enchanting tables, while other materials require anvil combinations. The enchantment is mutually exclusive with Smite and Bane of Arthropods, making it ideal for general-purpose combat. Sharpness proves essential for PvP combat, mob farming, and exploration, offering consistent damage boosts against any target regardless of mob type.
