Short Dry Grass

Short Dry Grass is a decorative foliage block that naturally generates in deserts and badlands. It is a one-block-tall version of tall dry grass and adds a dry, arid atmosphere to its surroundings. Sheep can eat short dry grass, and it regrows wool when consumed by a sheared sheep. It also produces ambient sounds when placed on sand, red sand, or terracotta with matching blocks below, creating effects like rustling, wind, and insect chatter.

Short dry grass breaks instantly and can be harvested using shears. It can also spread when bone meal is used on tall dry grass, generating short dry grass nearby if space permits. Players can use bone meal on short dry grass to turn it into tall dry grass.

It can be placed on a variety of blocks, including grass, dirt, sand, terracotta, and more. In Bedrock Edition, it can also be snowlogged. As a fuel, it smelts half an item (lasting 5 seconds). When used in a composter, it has a 30% chance to increase compost level by 1—the lowest composting chance.
