The Redstone Comparator is a Redstone component used to measure, compare, and manipulate Redstone signal strength. It is commonly used in storage detection systems, signal filters, logic gates, and more. A Redstone Comparator is crafted using 3 Stone, 3 Redstone Torches, and 1 Nether Quartz in a 3×3 crafting grid. It can also generate in ancient cities but is most often crafted by the player.

When placed, a Redstone Comparator receives input from the back and side and outputs from the front. In its default mode (comparison mode), it compares the rear signal to the side inputs and only outputs a signal if the rear input is stronger. When toggled (right-clicked), it enters subtraction mode, subtracting the stronger side input from the rear signal. This behavior allows for advanced signal control and filtering in Redstone contraptions.

The Redstone Comparator can also measure block states, such as how full a container is, the current page of a lectern book, or the honey level in a beehive. This makes it a key component for automation, item sorting systems, and Redstone-based sensors. Comparators can be broken instantly with any tool, but pickaxes are the fastest. Unlike Redstone Repeaters, they do not extend signals but instead provide precision control over Redstone logic and data detection.
