Elder Guardian
Elder Guardian is a stronger and larger variant of the guardian and the largest aquatic mob in Minecraft. It attacks similarly to a normal guardian but also inflicts Mining Fatigue on players within a large radius, making it a significant challenge to fight. Elder Guardians only spawn in ocean monuments, with three naturally generating per monument.
Elder Guardians drop 0–2 prismarine shards, 1 wet sponge, and have a 20% chance to drop a Tide Armor Trim. Additionally, they have a 2.5%–5.5% chance to drop 1 random fish. They also drop 10 experience when killed by a player.
Elder Guardians cannot be bred and do not respawn after being killed. They are a one-time challenge in an ocean monument, making them a key target for players looking to clear a monument for farming resources.
Elder Guardians are hostile mobs that attack with a long-range laser beam, which locks onto players and deals damage over time. Additionally, they periodically apply Mining Fatigue III to nearby players, making it difficult to mine blocks or break out of an ocean monument. They swim slowly but have high durability, making them one of the toughest underwater enemies. Their spines deal damage to melee attackers, similar to normal guardians, but they have significantly more health and attack power.
