Ghast
Ghast is a large, floating, ghost-like hostile mob found in the Nether. It is the only source of ghast tears and is known for its explosive fireball attacks, which can be deflected back to kill it instantly. Ghasts wander aimlessly through the Nether, making them unpredictable enemies.
Ghasts drop 0–1 ghast tears and 0–2 gunpowder upon death, which can be increased with the Looting enchantment. If killed by a player, they drop 5 experience.
Ghasts cannot be bred and spawn naturally in large open areas of the Nether, particularly in Nether wastes, soul sand valleys, and basalt deltas. They are immune to fire and lava, making them difficult to kill using environmental hazards.
Ghasts are hostile mobs that shoot explosive fireballs at players. Their fireballs deal damage to entities, create explosions, and set blocks on fire upon impact. Blocks with a blast resistance of 3.5 or higher can survive a ghast's explosion, but most weaker blocks will be destroyed. Fireballs can be deflected using melee attacks or projectiles, and if a reflected fireball hits a ghast directly, it deals massive damage, instantly killing it. This makes deflecting fireballs one of the most effective ways to defeat a ghast. Their loud cries and eerie sounds make them one of the most recognizable mobs in the game.
