Piston
The Piston is a Redstone component that pushes blocks when powered. It is commonly used in Redstone contraptions, doors, traps, and automated farms. Piston is crafted using 3 Wood Planks of any type, 4 Cobblestone, 1 Iron Ingot, and 1 Redstone Dust in a 3×3 crafting grid. It does not generate naturally and must be crafted by the player.
When powered by Redstone, Piston extends its wooden arm, pushing the block directly in front of it. When the power is removed, Piston retracts, leaving the pushed block in place. Piston can push most solid blocks but cannot move Obsidian, Bedrock, Crying Obsidian, End Portal Frames, or certain tile entities like Chests and Furnaces.
Piston can be powered by Redstone signals from sources like Levers, Redstone Torches, Redstone Repeaters, and Powered Rails. It can also be used in Redstone circuits to create block-swapping mechanisms, secret doors, and flying machines. Piston can be mined with any tool, but pickaxes break it the fastest. Unlike a Sticky Piston, Piston does not pull blocks back when retracting, making it useful for one-way pushing mechanisms.
