Feather Falling

Feather Falling is an essential boots-only enchantment in Minecraft that reduces fall damage, making it invaluable for high-altitude building, cave exploration, and elytra flying. This specialized enchantment has a maximum level of IV and is considered one of the most important survival enchantments for preventing accidental deaths.

Players can obtain Feather Falling through enchanting tables (most commonly at level 22 with 44.4% chance), trading with librarian villagers, fishing for enchanted books, or finding it in structure loot from desert pyramids, strongholds, ancient cities, trial chambers, and various dungeon chests. The enchantment can also be upgraded by combining two Feather Falling III books on an anvil.

Feather Falling reduces fall damage by 12% per level, providing up to 48% damage reduction with Feather Falling IV. It protects against all fall damage sources including ender pearl impacts, elytra crashes into ground, and fall damage from riding mobs. The enchantment works even though fall damage normally ignores armor protection.

Unlike other protection enchantments, Feather Falling can stack with Protection, Fire Protection, Blast Protection, and Projectile Protection up to an 80% damage reduction cap, making it compatible with comprehensive armor protection setups.
