Buried Mineshaft Map is an item in Minecraft. It can be found in chests.
Buried Mineshaft Map is an explorer map that marks the location of a Mineshaft. It cannot be obtained from the Creative inventory and is not among the trades offered by cartographer villagers.
The Buried Mineshaft Map generates as loot inside the secret chest of an Abandoned Camp, where it is one of seven possible explorer maps that chest can hold, each with a 14.3% chance to appear.
Like other explorer maps, it does not render full terrain detail. Instead it shows only the land-water outline of the surrounding area, with an orange striated texture marking water and a blank texture for land, a player marker, and an icon pinpointing the Mineshaft. When the map is generated, it searches for a Mineshaft around the chest that produced it and skips any structure an earlier map already marked, so the one it shows is not always the nearest.
Once the target is marked, the Buried Mineshaft Map fills in like a normal map as the player explores the surrounding chunks. The player's own icon shrinks when they are a great distance from the mapped area and returns to full size once they are close to the map's border.
