Leaf Litter

Leaf Litter is a thin, decorative block resembling dead leaves that naturally generates in forests, dark forests, and wooded badlands. Up to four pieces of leaf litter can be placed in a single block space, and its color changes based on the biome it’s placed in, using the dry foliage colormap. It appears brown in most areas and gray in pale gardens.

Leaf litter is created by smelting any type of leaves block, and can be broken instantly with or without tools. When broken, it drops the same number of items as the number placed.

It can be used as fuel, burning for 5 seconds (smelting ½ item), or added to a composter with a 30% chance of raising the compost level by 1. This makes it both decorative and slightly functional, especially in composting and early-game fuel sources.
