Sculk

Sculk is a low-hardness block found in the deep dark biome or generated by Sculk catalysts when mobs die nearby. It has a dark, veiny texture with glowing blue patches that subtly animate but emit no light. While mostly decorative, it contributes to the eerie atmosphere of the deep dark and serves as part of the Sculk family of blocks used in sensor-based gameplay and mob detection.

Breaking Sculk without Silk Touch drops 1 XP, making it a renewable source of experience when farmed via a Sculk catalyst setup. However, to collect the block itself, Silk Touch is required. Hoes are the preferred tool for breaking Sculk quickly.

Sculk spreads when mobs die within 8 blocks of a catalyst, replacing surrounding blocks from a wide list of materials—such as stone, deepslate, dirt, sand, and even soul soil. This makes it ideal for experience farming, sensor-based redstone contraptions, or aesthetic builds that aim for a corrupted or mysterious vibe.
