Creaking
Creaking is a hostile mob that spawns when an activated creaking heart is triggered at night or during a thunderstorm. It remains completely motionless as long as a Survival or Adventure mode player is looking at it, but moves and attacks when unseen. Creakings cannot be damaged or killed by normal means; instead, they are linked to a creaking heart, which must be destroyed to eliminate them.
Creakings do not drop any items or experience upon death. Since they are invulnerable, attacking them directly has no effect. Instead, destroying the creaking heart they are linked to instantly kills them, causing them to twitch briefly before vanishing.
Creakings do not spawn naturally and cannot be bred. They only appear when a creaking heart is activated, which requires it to be placed between two pale oak blocks of the same orientation along the same axis. Once active, the heart spawns creakings at night or during thunderstorms.
Creakings are hostile mobs that attack by headbutting, but only when players are not looking directly at them. This makes them extremely dangerous in low-visibility environments, as they move unpredictably and strike when least expected. When a protected creaking is hit, resin clumps appear on the nearby wood around its creaking heart, reinforcing the heart’s presence. Breaking the creaking heart is the only way to defeat a creaking, making encounters with them as much a puzzle as a combat challenge.
