Coal Ore is a mineral block that generates in the Overworld and drops Coal when mined.
Coal Ore can be mined with any pickaxe. Without Silk Touch, it drops 1 Coal (increased with Fortune) and 0–2 XP. Deepslate Coal Ore is a rarer variant that generates in deep underground layers. Coal Ore is primarily used for smelting into Coal and can also be placed under Note Blocks to produce bass drum sounds.
