Wither Rose

Wither Rose

Wither Rose is a damaging flower that drops when a mob is killed by a Wither. It can be used to craft black dye and inflicts the Wither effect on players and mobs that come into contact with it.

Wither Roses do not generate naturally and can only be obtained from mobs killed by the Wither. If the flower cannot be placed where the mob died, it drops as an item. Wither Roses can be planted on grass, dirt, coarse dirt, rooted dirt, farmland, podzol, mycelium, moss, mud, muddy mangrove roots, netherrack, soul sand, and soul soil.

Wither Roses inflict the Wither effect, dealing 1♥ damage every 0.5 seconds to any non-immune entity that touches them. The effect lingers for one second after leaving the block space. Wither Skeletons, the Wither, and the Ender Dragon are immune. When placed in a flower pot, Wither Roses do not cause damage.

They can also be used to craft Suspicious Stew, which grants the Wither effect for 7 seconds, dealing 3♥ damage. In Java Edition, Wither Skeletons can spawn inside Wither Roses, while in Bedrock Edition, both Wither Skeletons and Zombified Piglins can spawn in them.

Bees attempt to pollinate Wither Roses but take damage and die unless the game is set to Peaceful difficulty. While Wither Roses can lead bees, they cannot be used to breed them. Feeding a bee a Wither Rose inflicts it with the Wither effect for 2 seconds.

Oak, birch, and cherry trees grown near Wither Roses have a 5% chance to spawn with a bee nest containing bees. They can also be composted with a 65% chance to increase the compost level.
