TNT
TNT is an explosive block that detonates when ignited, causing damage to terrain and entities. It is commonly used in mining, traps, and Redstone-powered explosions. TNT is crafted using 5 Gunpowder and 4 Sand in a 3×3 crafting grid. It does not generate naturally but can be found in Desert Temples, Shipwreck Supply Chests, and some Buried Treasure Chests.
When TNT is ignited by fire, lava, Redstone signals, explosions, or Flint and Steel, it begins a 4-second fuse before exploding. The explosion breaks surrounding blocks, dealing damage to nearby entities and creating a crater in most materials. The blast radius varies depending on the block type and explosion power.
A TNT explosion is less destructive underwater, as water absorbs most of the blast. However, using TNT Minecarts or Respawn Anchors in creative ways can increase the effectiveness of controlled explosions. TNT can be moved by Pistons but will not ignite unless a fire source or Redstone activation is applied. Unlike Creeper explosions, TNT does not leave fire behind when detonated. A TNT block can be mined with any tool, but hand or pickaxes are the most effective.
