Buried Ancient City Map is an item in Minecraft. It can be found in chests.
Buried Ancient City Map is a type of explorer map that marks the location of an Ancient City. Unlike ordinary maps, Buried Ancient City Map cannot be found in the Creative inventory and is never sold by cartographer villagers.
The only normal way to get a Buried Ancient City Map is as generated loot: it has a 14.3% chance to appear in the secret chest of an Abandoned Camp, one map per chest, in both Java Edition and Bedrock Edition. It stacks up to 64.
Once obtained, Buried Ancient City Map behaves like other explorer maps. It shows the surrounding terrain marked with a small structure icon, using an orange striated texture for water and swamps and a blank texture for land, and fills in like a normal map as the player approaches the marked area. The marked Ancient City is not always the one nearest to the player: the map searches around the chest that generated it and skips structures an earlier map already marked.
