砂漠
砂漠 is a large, arid Overworld biome defined by its entirely sand-covered surface, with layers of sandstone sitting just beneath. The terrain is predominantly flat, though gentle hills can occasionally break up the landscape. No rainfall ever occurs here, and the biome registers one of the highest temperature values in the game at 2.0, with a downfall rating of 0.0.
The 砂漠 generates in areas of high temperature and medium-to-high erosion, frequently appearing alongside badlands variants, savannas, jungles, mangrove swamps, plains, and forests. Along coastlines, the 砂漠 meets warm ocean biomes directly, without generating a beach transition. Beneath the surface, lush caves can occasionally form underground, sometimes hinted at by azalea trees growing on the sandy floor above.
The surface of the 砂漠 is scattered with cacti, dead bushes, short and tall dry grass, and sugar cane near any water sources. Structures such as desert pyramids, desert villages, pillager outposts, and desert wells all generate within this biome, making it a notable location for finding loot. Fossils also form underground exclusively beneath the 砂漠, adding further reason to explore below its surface.
At night and during thunderstorms, husks and parched mobs spawn and are notably resistant to burning in daylight, making them more persistent threats than typical hostile mobs. Camels and rabbits are the only passive animals that spawn naturally in the open biome, while villagers and farm animals appear within desert villages. When Vibrant Visuals are enabled, the 砂漠 receives warm atmospheric tinting, a turquoise-green daytime sky, and vivid blue moonlight.
