Allay

Allay is a flying passive mob that collects and delivers items to the player or to a note block that has recently played. It is considered the positive counterpart to the vex and is highly useful for sorting and retrieving items. Allays do not drop any items upon death and do not provide experience when killed.

Allays cannot be bred but can be duplicated using an amethyst shard. If an allay is near a jukebox playing any music disc, it begins dancing. When fed an amethyst shard while dancing, it duplicates into two allays, consuming the shard. After duplication, both allays have a five-minute cooldown before they can duplicate again. Allays do not have a baby form.

Allays are passive mobs and do not attack the player or other mobs. They spawn naturally in dark oak cages at pillager outposts or jail cells inside woodland mansions, with a 50% chance to appear in groups of 1–3. Allays follow and assist players who give them an item, collecting dropped copies of the same item within a 32-block radius and returning them to the player. If a note block plays nearby, the allay will deliver items to it instead for 30 seconds before resuming its normal behavior. Allays can be leashed with a lead and named with a name tag for customization. Their unique ability to help sort and gather items makes them a valuable companion in storage and automation setups.
