Pale Garden

Pale Garden is a rare biome introduced as a variant of the dark forest, generating on plateaus and mountain slopes where continentalness and weirdness values are high, alongside medium temperatures and elevated humidity. It tends to spawn adjacent to regular dark forests and frequently borders meadows and grove biomes, though it can also neighbor old growth pine taigas, birch forests, jungles, and frozen or jagged peaks. Because Pale Garden can border meadows, villages occasionally appear at its edges — a distinction from the standard dark forest.

The landscape of the Pale Garden is defined by pale oak trees draped in hanging pale moss, with the ground carpeted in pale moss blocks, pale moss carpets, eyeblossoms, and tall grass growing from ordinary grass blocks beneath. The sky, water, and foliage all share a uniformly muted, desaturated palette. Some pale oak trees contain a creaking heart block, which summons the creaking mob after dark. Naturally generated pale oaks have only a one-in-five chance of holding one, meaning smaller Pale Garden areas may have none present at all.

One of the more atmospheric qualities of the Pale Garden is its complete absence of ambient music. Any track playing when a player enters the biome will fade into silence, resuming only upon departure. With the Vibrant Visuals renderer enabled, a dense pale fog fills the biome, dimming sunlight and moonlight to a gray hue and casting a cold blue tint across the environment.

No passive mobs spawn naturally within the Pale Garden. However, hostile mobs including creepers, zombies, skeletons, spiders, endermen, witches, and zombie villagers are common, and the dense canopy allows some to spawn even in daylight. Woodland mansions can also generate here.
