Diamond Ore

Diamond Ore is a rare mineral block that generates deep underground and drops diamonds when mined. Deepslate Diamond Ore is a variant found in the deepslate layer, where it is more common than regular Diamond Ore. To obtain the ore block itself, players must mine it with an Iron Pickaxe or better using the Silk Touch enchantment. Otherwise, it drops a single diamond, with Fortune increasing the yield up to 2.2 diamonds per block on average with Fortune III.

Diamond Ore generates in four batches between Y=14 and Y=-63, becoming more abundant at lower elevations. Some batches have a 50-70% chance of not generating if exposed to air, making diamonds appear more frequently in cave walls or aquifers. Diamonds are used for crafting powerful tools, armor, and enchantment tables. Smelting Diamond Ore yields one diamond, and the ore can be placed under note blocks to produce 'bass drum' sounds.
