Yellow Poplar Leaves

Yellow Poplar Leaves grow on poplar trees, one of three poplar leaf colors the game generates side by side with red and orange. You'll spot Yellow Poplar Leaves wherever poplar trees grow, which is throughout dappled forest biomes.

This block shares the usual leaf behavior — it's transparent to light, lets chests underneath it open even though it blocks movement, and can hold water when waterlogged. A block of Yellow Poplar Leaves that isn't within reach of a connected log or wood block will eventually decay on its own, but placing it by hand keeps it around for good. Punching it down without shears or a Silk Touch tool typically leaves nothing behind, aside from a small chance at a sapling or a stick, and it can be smelted into leaf litter as well.

Unlike biome-tinted leaves such as oak, Yellow Poplar Leaves has its yellow hue baked into the texture, so it looks the same in every biome. When its four horizontal neighbors are a non-stripped log and three more yellow poplar leaves, Yellow Poplar Leaves will occasionally rustle with a faint ambient sound that carries about 12 blocks.
