Dappled Forest

Dappled Forest is a forest biome in the Overworld with a temperature of 0.6 and a downfall of 0.6. It rains here rather than snows, and the forest music plays while exploring. Dappled Forest is defined by a distinct palette: burnt-orange grass, orange tree foliage, and water tinted a dark teal-grey.

The canopy of Dappled Forest is mostly poplar trees, their log trunks topped with orange, red, or yellow leaves; many trees stand over a carpet of leaf litter, and fallen poplar logs lie scattered across the ground alongside them. A handful of spruce trees also grow here. Shelf mushrooms sprout on the sides of both standing and fallen poplar logs, while brown mushrooms grow on top of the fallen logs and dot the forest floor. Red shrubs and short grass cover the ground between the trees.

Trial chambers can generate underground beneath Dappled Forest, and abandoned camps appear on its surface; a Dappled Forest Camp Map found in a camp elsewhere leads explorers to one of these camps. Farm animals spawning in Dappled Forest take their cold-climate forms, appearing as cold pigs, cows, and chickens.

Passive mobs here include sheep, chickens, pigs, cows, rabbits, and foxes — the presence of rabbits and foxes, and the absence of wolves, is what sets Dappled Forest apart from an ordinary forest. Glow squid inhabit its dark underwater caves, and bats roost in caves as well. After dark or underground, zombies, zombie villagers, skeletons, creepers, spiders, endermen, and witches emerge, along with slimes in slime chunks.
