Weathered Lightning Rod
The Weathered Lightning Rod represents the third stage of oxidation in the Lightning Rod’s lifecycle, featuring a distinct green coloration with brown undertones as the copper continues to age. While its surface shows clear signs of weathering, it retains the same functionality as the unoxidized and exposed variants, acting as a conduit to redirect lightning strikes within a 128-block radius in Java Edition (64 blocks in Bedrock Edition). When struck by lightning, it emits a redstone pulse of power level 15 for 0.4 seconds, allowing players to harness storms for automated systems or redstone triggers.
The Weathered Lightning Rod can be mounted in any orientation and is waterloggable, making it adaptable for various architectural and technical uses. Like other oxidizable copper blocks, it can be waxed with Honeycomb to preserve its aged appearance, creating a Waxed Weathered Lightning Rod. Using an axe removes wax or reduces the oxidation level, while lightning strikes can also naturally revert it to an earlier stage.
With a hardness of 3 and a blast resistance of 6, the Weathered Lightning Rod offers both durability and visual character. Its weathered patina makes it especially popular in builds that aim for a rustic or timeworn aesthetic, while maintaining full lightning diversion and redstone functionality.
