Crafting Table

Crafting Table is the block that opens the full three-by-three grid, and nearly everything past your first stone tools needs one. Your inventory already handles anything that fits inside a two-by-two square — planks, sticks, torches, the table itself — so the table is not about crafting faster, it is about the recipes that physically do not fit anywhere else.

Any wood works and the result is identical: one made from mangrove planks behaves and looks exactly like one made from oak. Often you do not need to make one at all, because tables generate ready-made in villages, igloos, swamp huts, pillager outposts, trail ruins, and trial chambers — worth remembering on a first night in a world where you have not found a tree yet.

Using a crafting table is simple, and closing it is safe: whatever is still in the grid when you close the interface returns to your inventory rather than being lost. The recipe book beside it filters down to what your current inventory can actually make and will lay a recipe into the grid for you, which beats remembering shapes. Shapeless recipes ignore where you put the ingredients; shaped ones do not, though most can be slid around the grid as long as their relative positions hold.

Practically it is a disposable block. An axe takes it down quickly, and no villager profession claims it as a workstation — so unlike a smoker or a lectern you can drop one anywhere in a base, a mine, or a boat trip's supply chest without it changing anything else in the world.
