Tall Dry Grass is a naturally occurring foliage block found in deserts and all types of badlands. It serves as the taller counterpart to short dry grass and adds dry, desolate ambience to its environment. Like its shorter variant, it can be eaten by sheep, which helps sheared sheep regrow wool. Baby sheep consume it more frequently and grow faster as a result.

Tall Dry Grass breaks instantly and can be harvested using shears. Without shears, it only has a chance to drop wheat seeds. It can also be obtained through wandering traders, who may sell it for 1 emerald. Applying bone meal to short dry grass transforms it into Tall Dry Grass, while using bone meal on Tall Dry Grass may cause short dry grass to grow nearby.

It can be placed on a wide variety of blocks, including sand, terracotta, dirt, and moss, and it can be snowlogged in Bedrock Edition. As fuel, it lasts 5 seconds, smelting half an item. When composted, it has a 30% chance to raise compost level by 1, with a full stack averaging 2.74 bone meal.

When placed on sand, red sand, or terracotta with matching blocks beneath, Tall Dry Grass generates ambient sounds like rustling leaves and wind, enhancing immersion in arid biomes.
