Ghastling
Ghastling is a passive baby mob introduced in Minecraft Bedrock Edition as part of the Chase the Skies update. It represents the juvenile form of the Happy Ghast and comes into existence through a specific hydration process: placing a Dried Ghast block in water causes it to gradually transform, taking roughly 20 minutes — or 24,000 game ticks — before the Ghastling emerges.
Once spawned, the Ghastling floats gently and poses absolutely no danger to nearby players. It will never attack under any circumstances. Within a range of about 16 blocks, it may begin drifting toward players or adult Happy Ghasts, occasionally following them around without any further interaction required. The Ghastling can appear in any biome, as its spawning depends entirely on where a Dried Ghast block is hydrated rather than on the surrounding environment.
Players can influence the Ghastling's development in two notable ways. Feeding it Snowballs speeds up its maturation into an adult Happy Ghast, with each Snowball shaving time off the growth timer. Alternatively, offering it a Golden Dandelion halts its growth permanently, keeping it in its juvenile state indefinitely. If the Ghastling is killed, it drops any harness it happens to be wearing at the time but provides no experience points upon death.
