Poplar Shelf

Poplar Shelf is a functional wooden block capable of holding up to three stacks of items, one per slot. Each slot operates independently under normal conditions: when a player clicks a slot, the item stored there swaps with whatever the player holds in the corresponding hotbar position. This makes the Poplar Shelf a convenient way to keep frequently used items within easy reach without opening a traditional inventory screen.

When the Poplar Shelf receives a redstone signal, its three slots merge into a single combined inventory, and a single interaction will swap all stored items simultaneously. Adjacent powered shelves can also link together, allowing two or three Poplar Shelf blocks side by side to exchange six or nine items at once with just one click. This mechanic makes the block particularly useful in automated or redstone-driven storage setups. Visually, the Poplar Shelf reflects the pale, light-gray tones characteristic of poplar wood, giving it a clean, understated appearance.

The Poplar Shelf is transparent, waterloggable, and flammable, and it can ignite from nearby lava as with other overworld wood types. It has a hardness of 2 and a blast resistance of 3, meaning it is relatively straightforward to break by hand, though using an axe speeds up the process considerably. The block always drops itself when mined. When placed adjacent to a note block, it produces a bass instrument sound.
