Where do Swamp Huts generate?
Swamp Huts — commonly called witch huts — generate on stilts over the water in swamp biomes in the Overworld (not in mangrove swamps), built from spruce planks and logs with a cauldron and crafting table inside.
How far from spawn is the nearest Swamp Hut?
Often thousands of blocks. Across 200 random worlds, half had a swamp hut within 3,300 blocks of spawn on Java and 9 in 10 had one within 5,500; on Bedrock the same figures are 3,100 and 5,700. Each 512 × 512-block area can hold one, but only where it lands in swamp, so the distance mostly depends on how far the nearest swamp is. Open a marker for coordinates; each hut spawns a Witch and a black cat, and witches keep spawning inside the hut’s area.

Why build at a Swamp Hut?
The hut is the only structure that naturally spawns Witches, so players turn them into witch farms for redstone, glowstone dust, sugar, sticks and potions. There is no loot chest — the value is the renewable witch drops.
