Swamp Hut
Swamp Hut, sometimes called a witch hut, is a rare generated structure that appears exclusively in swamp biomes. It never generates in mangrove swamps, and within eligible chunks it always occupies the north-west corner. Players who want to track one down can purchase swamp explorer maps from cartographer villagers found in jungle, snowy, and taiga biomes.
The Swamp Hut is a compact, single-room building constructed primarily from spruce planks, with oak log pillars holding up the structure and descending all the way down to solid ground below. Because of this behaviour, huts positioned above deep caves or canyons can develop unusually tall support columns. The roof is made from spruce stairs and spruce planks, and the interior ceiling sits only two blocks high. Inside, players will find a cauldron, a crafting table, and a flower pot containing a red mushroom. In Java Edition the cauldron is always empty, whereas in Bedrock Edition it holds one to three bottles of a randomly selected potion.
Each Swamp Hut spawns one witch and one black cat at world generation, and neither creature naturally despawns. The witch will not appear on Peaceful difficulty. Additional witches and cats may spawn within the 7×7×9 block volume surrounding the structure. In Bedrock Edition, a witch that is killed will respawn on a specific floor tile located two blocks in front of the crafting table.
The presence of a black cat alongside the witch inside the Swamp Hut is a nod to European folklore, which has long associated black cats with witchcraft. This small detail gives the structure a thematic identity beyond its functional contents.
