Nether Wastes

Nether Wastes (Nether) is the most common biome found within the Nether dimension, making up roughly 36% of its total volume. Unlike other Nether biomes that tend to form large, contiguous regions, the Nether Wastes frequently appears as narrow strips that act as natural buffers between neighboring biomes. Notably, a band of Nether Wastes always separates the Crimson Forest from the Basalt Deltas, and likewise keeps the Warped Forest and the Soul Sand Valley from ever sharing a direct border.

The landscape of the Nether Wastes is a desolate expanse dominated by netherrack, broken up by sprawling lava seas and clusters of glowstone hanging from cavern ceilings. Nether Quartz Ore, Nether Gold Ore, and Blackstone are scattered visibly throughout the terrain, making this biome a practical starting point for ore gathering. Ancient Debris also spawns here, though it remains buried and unexposed within the netherrack. Gravel and Soul Sand deposits tend to appear along the shorelines of lava lakes.

The Nether Wastes supports a broad range of hostile and neutral mobs, including Zombified Piglins, Ghasts, Piglins, Magma Cubes, Endermen, and Striders drifting across lava flows. It is also one of the key biomes where Nether Fortresses, Ruined Portals, and Bastion Remnants can generate, making it an important destination for players focused on progressing through the game's mid and late stages.
