How do I find a Nether Fortress?

Enter your world seed into the interactive seed-map finder on this page to get the exact X/Z coordinates of every Nether Fortress in your world. In-game, head into the Nether and explore until you spot the tall nether-brick bridges and corridors, then bridge or fly outward across new regions, since each region generates at most one fortress.

Which dimension does the Nether Fortress spawn in, and how rare is it?

Nether Fortresses generate only in the Nether and can appear in any of its biomes. In Java Edition they share generation regions with Bastion Remnants, so each region produces one or the other, which means you may need to travel through several regions to find a fortress; in Bedrock Edition both structures can generate in the same area.

What loot and mobs are in a Nether Fortress?

Nether Fortresses are the only reliable source of Blazes, whose blaze rods make blaze powder for brewing and eyes of ender. They also spawn Wither Skeletons that drop the skulls needed to summon the Wither, grow Nether Wart for potions, and contain chests with loot such as saddles, golden horse armor, and diamonds.

Nether Fortress

generated

Nether Fortress is a generated structure in Minecraft. It is home to Blaze, Magma Cube, Skeleton, Wither Skeleton, and Zombified Piglin. Its chests can contain Gold Ingot, Saddle, Golden Horse Armor, Nether Wart, and Iron Ingot.

Nether Fortress is a large structure found in the Nether, made of nether bricks and composed of bridges, corridors, and stairways. It is the only place where blazes and wither skeletons naturally spawn, making it necessary for brewing and fighting the Wither.

The structure includes blaze spawner platforms, Nether wart gardens, and loot chests placed in corridor turns. Chests can contain items like gold, iron, diamonds, saddles, and horse armor.

Separate mob spawning rules apply: blazes, wither skeletons, zombified piglins, magma cubes, and skeletons spawn at higher rates within fortress boundaries.
