Where is Buried Treasure?
Buried Treasure is a single chest buried a few blocks under beaches or the shallow ocean floor in the Overworld. In-game you normally need a treasure map from a shipwreck or ocean ruin to find it — this finder skips that step and marks the chest directly.
How far from spawn is the nearest Buried Treasure?
Across 200 random worlds, half had a buried-treasure chest within 550 blocks of spawn on Java and 9 in 10 had one within 1,150; on Bedrock the same figures are 200 and 600. Treasure only generates along beaches, so a seed that starts you inland leaves you further to go. Open a marker for coordinates, travel there, and dig straight down at the marked block (the treasure map’s “X”) to reach the chest.

The Heart of the Sea is the centrepiece of a Conduit — surround it with prismarine and nautilus shells to build one, granting underwater breathing, night vision and faster mining in a radius. Buried Treasure is the only source of the Heart.
Is Buried Treasure easier to find on Java or Bedrock?
Bedrock, by a long way. A Bedrock world averages about 25 buried-treasure chests within 1,000 blocks of spawn, against about 3 on Java, and the same seed buries them in different places on each edition — so pick your edition above before you read coordinates, and do not follow a treasure list made for the other edition.
