Sulfur Spring
Sulfur Spring is a naturally generated surface feature found in the Overworld, appearing directly above underground sulfur cave systems. It takes the shape of a small pond of water surrounded by a ring of sulfur blocks, sulfur spikes, cinnabar, tuff, granite, and stone. Beneath the water surface, magma blocks and potent sulfur are embedded into the structure's base, and the potent sulfur periodically erupts to create a distinctive geyser effect.
The Sulfur Spring comes in ten distinct variants organized across four size tiers: small, medium, large, and extra large. Smaller variants are considerably more common, with each small variant carrying a weight of roughly 15.9% out of the total generation pool, while medium variants sit at around 9.5% each, large variants at approximately 3.2%, and the single extra-large variant at just 1.6%. As the tier increases, each Sulfur Spring contains more blocks overall, along with additional sulfur spikes and a larger body of water.
Every variant of the Sulfur Spring includes at least one magma block and one potent sulfur block working in tandem to produce the geyser mechanic, while the extra-large variant contains two of each. One important limitation is that the Sulfur Spring does not generate within chunks that have already been created — it will not appear retroactively in terrain that was loaded before the feature was introduced. Players exploring newly generated areas have the best chance of encountering one of these formations.
