Cinnabar
Cinnabar is a decorative stone block that generates naturally underground within sulfur caves, appearing alongside sulfur deposits and forming part of sulfur spring formations. Its deep reddish coloration makes it immediately recognizable among the cave systems where it spawns, giving it a distinctive appearance compared to more common stone variants.
Cinnabar requires at least a wooden pickaxe to mine successfully — breaking it with bare hands or an unsuitable tool yields nothing. The block carries a hardness of 1.5 and a blast resistance of 6, values consistent with typical decorative stone materials. When placed beneath a note block, Cinnabar produces a bass drum sound. It also interacts with nearby sulfur cubes, acting as a slow bouncy surface archetype that influences how those mobs bounce in the surrounding area.
Because Cinnabar cannot be crafted from other materials and does not regenerate once harvested, the only way to obtain it is through natural cave generation. It serves as the base material for an extensive family of decorative variants. Using a crafting table, players can produce slabs, stairs, walls, and polished cinnabar. A stonecutter expands those options further, yielding polished cinnabar slabs, stairs, and walls, as well as cinnabar bricks, cinnabar brick slabs, cinnabar brick stairs, cinnabar brick walls, and chiseled cinnabar — making Cinnabar a versatile foundation for stone-themed builds despite its non-renewable nature.
