Poplar Log

Poplar Log is the cylindrical trunk block that forms the core structure of poplar trees in the overworld. It joins a group of ten naturally occurring log variants — including oak, spruce, birch, jungle, acacia, dark oak, mangrove, cherry, and pale oak — making Poplar Log one of the more recently introduced members of that family. Like all logs, it always drops itself when broken by hand or with any tool, though using an axe reduces the time required considerably.

Poplar Log shares the standard physical profile common to most log blocks: a hardness and blast resistance of 2, no light emission, and full opacity. It is flammable and can ignite when exposed to lava, so placement near fire hazards is worth considering. Running an axe across a placed Poplar Log strips away the outer bark, transforming it into a stripped poplar log and exposing the lighter inner wood texture across every face.

The most common use for Poplar Log is converting it into four poplar planks at any crafting grid, which unlocks the full poplar wood set — including slabs, stairs, fences, doors, and other structural pieces. Beyond crafting, Poplar Log works as a fuel source in a furnace, providing enough energy to smelt one and a half items per log. Alternatively, smelting a Poplar Log itself yields a piece of charcoal, making it a practical resource when coal is scarce.
