Poplar Planks

Poplar Planks are one of thirteen plank variants available in the game, sitting within the Overworld plank family alongside oak, spruce, birch, jungle, acacia, dark oak, mangrove, cherry, and pale oak planks. What sets Poplar Planks apart visually is their distinctive light gray map color, which differs from every other plank type currently in the game.

Poplar Planks are crafted by placing a poplar log in a crafting grid, which yields four planks per log. Like all Overworld-sourced planks, they are flammable and can be ignited by lava — a key distinction from Nether plank types such as crimson and warped planks, which are fire-resistant. They share the standard hardness of 2 and blast resistance of 3 common to other plank variants. Any tool, or even bare hands, can break Poplar Planks, though an axe will reduce the time needed considerably.

Poplar Planks function as a foundational crafting ingredient, allowing players to produce a broad range of wooden items including sticks, slabs, stairs, fences, doors, trapdoors, buttons, and pressure plates. They also serve as a reliable fuel source in furnaces, with each plank burning for 15 seconds. Additionally, when a note block is placed on top of Poplar Planks, it will produce a bass instrument sound, making them useful in musical builds as well.
