Waxed Exposed Lightning Rod
The Waxed Exposed Lightning Rod is a preserved version of the Exposed Lightning Rod, treated with Honeycomb to halt further oxidation. Its surface features light green tarnishing and subtle copper tones, frozen at the second stage of oxidation. Functionally, it operates the same as all lightning rod variants—attracting lightning strikes within a 128-block radius in Java Edition (64 blocks in Bedrock Edition) and emitting a redstone pulse of power level 15 for 0.4 seconds when struck. This makes it a dependable component for both lightning protection and redstone-powered automation.
The Waxed Exposed Lightning Rod can be oriented in any direction and is waterloggable, allowing for flexible placement in various designs. The wax coating prevents it from transitioning to the Weathered or Oxidized stages, ensuring it retains its pale copper-green aesthetic indefinitely. Scraping it with an axe removes the wax, re-enabling natural oxidation.
With a hardness of 3 and blast resistance of 6, the Waxed Exposed Lightning Rod offers the same durability as other copper-based structures. Its slightly aged yet protected appearance makes it ideal for builds seeking a touch of natural weathering without sacrificing visual consistency or long-term stability.
