Waxed Lightning Rod
The Waxed Lightning Rod is a variant of the Lightning Rod coated with Honeycomb to prevent oxidation, keeping its bright copper color indefinitely. Functionally identical to the unoxidized Lightning Rod, it diverts lightning strikes within a 128-block radius in Java Edition (64 blocks in Bedrock Edition) and emits a redstone pulse of power level 15 for 0.4 seconds when struck by lightning. This allows players to create weather-reactive redstone systems or protect flammable structures from fire during storms.
The Waxed Lightning Rod can be placed in any orientation and is waterloggable, making it versatile for both decorative and technical builds. Since it is waxed, it will not transition into the exposed, weathered, or oxidized stages over time. The wax coating can be removed by scraping it with an axe, which restores its ability to oxidize naturally.
With a hardness of 3 and blast resistance of 6, the Waxed Lightning Rod is durable and reliable. Its polished copper appearance pairs well with other copper-based blocks and redstone components, making it a visually appealing and practical addition to builds that require both protection and aesthetic cohesion.
