Golden Nautilus Armor
Golden Nautilus Armor is a tier of nautilus armor designed to be worn by tamed nautilus mobs, reducing the damage they sustain during combat encounters. Sitting at the third-highest tier among all nautilus armor variants, Golden Nautilus Armor offers greater protection than iron nautilus armor, making it a meaningful upgrade for players who bring nautiluses into more dangerous situations.
Golden Nautilus Armor cannot be crafted at a crafting table or any other workstation. Instead, it must be found as loot within generated structures scattered across the world. It can appear inside chests at Buried Treasure sites, Shipwreck supply, treasure, and map chests, and Ocean Ruins — both small and large varieties. In Java Edition the drop chance sits at roughly 2.7%, while some Bedrock Edition containers offer slightly lower odds, making it a relatively uncommon find.
To equip Golden Nautilus Armor, a player can either use the item directly on a tamed nautilus or place it into the armor slot through the nautilus's inventory screen. Once equipped, the nautilus receives 7 armor points. It is worth noting that baby nautiluses are unable to wear any armor, as they cannot be ridden. Golden Nautilus Armor does not stack in the inventory and is considered a non-renewable item.
Like other gold-based equipment, Golden Nautilus Armor has a couple of additional interactions worth knowing. It can be smelted in a furnace to yield a single gold nugget. Piglins also recognise it as a gold item and will pick up any dropped piece from the ground, inspecting it for roughly six to eight seconds before storing it away.
