Meadow is a high-altitude Overworld biome found on mountain slopes, isolated plateaus, and the valleys enclosed within mountain ranges. It generates across medium and cold temperature zones and can vary dramatically in size — some instances span only a handful of blocks, while others stretch across plateaus hundreds of blocks wide. The Meadow borders flower forests, plains, birch forests, and taigas on its lower edges, and meets jagged peaks, snowy slopes, and groves higher up.
The surface of the Meadow is covered in turquoise-green grass alongside short grass, tall grass, and a variety of wildflowers including dandelions, cornflowers, poppies, alliums, oxeye daisies, and azure bluets. These flower patches can extend for considerable distances without changing species, giving the biome a distinctive, uniform bloom. Scattered oak or birch trees grow here on occasion, and every such tree is guaranteed to have a bee nest attached. Uniquely among mountain biomes, the Meadow is capable of generating both pillager outposts and plains villages, making it the only elevated biome where settlements can appear.
Underground, the Meadow offers relatively generous deposits of emerald ore at higher elevations, as well as coal and iron ore throughout. Blobs of infested stone also generate naturally within the biome. On the surface, passive mobs such as rabbits, sheep, and donkeys roam the grassy terrain, while the usual hostile mobs appear after dark. Glow squids can be found in subterranean water sources below the meadow floor. In Bedrock Edition, the biome is classified as cold enough for snowfall above Y=200, though natural terrain in a Meadow rarely reaches that elevation.
