Donkey

Donkey is a passive mob similar to a horse that can be tamed, ridden, and equipped with chests for additional storage. Unlike horses, donkeys have a consistent speed and jump height, making them reliable but generally slower than some horses. Donkeys drop 0–2 leather upon death, which can be increased with the Looting enchantment.

Donkeys can be bred using golden apples or golden carrots. To breed donkeys, two tamed donkeys must be fed one of these items, after which they enter love mode and produce a baby Donkey (foal). Baby donkeys take 20 minutes to grow into adults, but this time can be reduced by feeding them sugar, wheat, apples, golden apples, golden carrots, or hay bales.

Donkeys must be tamed before they can be ridden or bred. To tame a Donkey, the player must mount it repeatedly until hearts appear, indicating that it has accepted the rider. Once tamed, a saddle can be equipped, allowing the player to control its movement. Unlike horses, donkeys can be equipped with a chest, providing 15 inventory slots for additional storage. This makes them useful for long-distance travel and resource gathering. Donkeys spawn naturally in plains and savannas, often in small groups. While not as fast as some horses, their ability to carry extra items makes them a valuable companion for exploration and transport.
