Plains

Plains is one of the most widespread biomes found throughout the Overworld, characterized by broad, open grassland terrain dotted with flowers and occasional oak trees. It holds the distinction of being the second most common Overworld biome overall, and its borders frequently touch sunflower plains, forests, savannas, deserts, taigas, and snowy plains, depending on the surrounding temperature conditions.

The surface of Plains consists of grass blocks covered in short grass, tall grass, and a diverse selection of wildflowers, including tulips, dandelions, poppies, cornflowers, oxeye daisies, and azure bluets. Tulips are a particularly notable feature, as they are shared only with flower forests among all Overworld biomes. Scattered bushes and lone oak trees — some of which naturally generate with bee nests — are spread across the landscape, though the terrain remains largely open.

Villages built from oak planks and logs generate within Plains, alongside Pillager Outposts. Horses and donkeys are common daytime spawns, while zombie horses may occasionally appear after nightfall. Familiar passive mobs such as sheep, cows, pigs, and chickens roam the area freely. Once darkness falls, hostile mobs including zombies, skeletons, creepers, spiders, and endermen begin to appear.

Plains can form across a wide range of elevations, from flat lowland terrain near swamps and mangrove swamps to elevated areas bordering mountains, meadows, cherry groves, and snowy slopes, making it one of the more versatile biomes in terms of where it can be encountered.
