Lectern

The Lectern is a utility block used to hold Written Books, allowing multiple players to read them simultaneously. It also functions as the job site block for Librarian villagers. A Lectern is crafted using 4 Wooden Slabs of any type and 1 Bookshelf in a 3×3 crafting grid. It also generates naturally in village libraries.

When a Written Book is placed on a Lectern, players can read its contents but cannot edit it. The book remains in the Lectern until removed, making it useful for roleplay builds, server rules, and adventure maps. A Lectern emits a Redstone signal when a player turns a page, making it useful for Redstone contraptions, such as secret doors and hidden mechanisms.

A Lectern can be mined with any tool, but axes break it the fastest. Unlike a Bookshelf, a Lectern does not enhance Enchanting Tables, making it primarily useful for Librarian trading, book storage, and Redstone interactions.
