Diamond Spear
Diamond Spear is a melee weapon belonging to the spear family, sitting at the second-highest tier of that weapon class. Crafted from diamonds and sticks, the Diamond Spear offers notably improved attack damage and durability compared to its iron counterpart, though players should expect a slower attack speed as part of that trade-off. It cannot be stacked in the inventory and is not obtainable through renewable methods under normal circumstances, though vaults are one source that can yield one.
The Diamond Spear supports two combat styles. A jab attack is performed while the player stands on the ground, dealing 4 HP in Java Edition or 5 HP in Bedrock Edition per strike before entering a cooldown period. Alternatively, holding the use key initiates a charge attack, which lowers the spear and scales damage according to the wielder's movement speed using a 1.075× multiplier. Charged hits also have the added effect of dismounting enemies from their mounts. Holding the charge for too long causes the weapon to enter a shaking state and then a dropped-down state, each of which reduces certain combat effectiveness.
In Java Edition, the Diamond Spear swings at 0.95 times per second, while Bedrock Edition applies a 21-tick use cooldown of equivalent length. The weapon's attack range spans between 2 and 4.5 blocks. Durability sits at 1,561 in Java Edition and 1,562 in Bedrock Edition, with an enchantability of 10. The Diamond Spear can occasionally be found in Bastion Remnant treasure chests or End City chests, sometimes enchanted or with reduced durability. It can be upgraded into a netherite spear at a smithing table using a Netherite Upgrade smithing template and a netherite ingot.
