Basalt Deltas

Basalt Deltas is a volcanic biome located in the Nether, ranking as the second rarest Nether biome and occupying roughly 16% of the Nether's total volume. It can border any other Nether biome with the sole exception of the Crimson Forest. Uniquely, Basalt Deltas is the only Nether biome where Bastion Remnants do not generate, setting it apart from its neighbours.

The landscape of Basalt Deltas is rugged and uneven, built mainly from basalt and blackstone. Shallow lava pools called deltas — typically one to three blocks deep — are scattered throughout the terrain, making navigation and mining more hazardous than in most other biomes. Magma blocks appear frequently across the ground, a distinctive dull lilac fog fills the air alongside drifting ash particles, and clusters of glowstone hang from the ceiling above. Mushrooms of both brown and red varieties can grow atop basalt blocks, while small basalt archipelagos rise from the surrounding lava seas.

Underground resources such as Nether quartz ore, Nether gold ore, and the rare ancient debris do generate within Basalt Deltas, though the abundance of lava-filled deltas makes extraction more challenging. Ore generation rates are somewhat higher here to offset the reduced presence of netherrack. Nether Fortresses and Ruined Portals may still appear within the biome's boundaries.

From a mob perspective, Basalt Deltas is notable for its extremely high Magma Cube spawn rate, making it a reliable location for gathering magma cream. Ghasts appear occasionally, and Striders roam the lava lakes as they do throughout the Nether, though they can become stranded in the many shallow delta pools.
