Snowy Slopes

Snowy Slopes is a cold, rugged mountain biome that clings to the flanks and upper reaches of mountainous terrain. Rather than the flat, powder-dusted ground of snowy plains, the surface here consists of stone buried beneath several layers of snow blocks. Scattered throughout the slopes are hidden patches of powder snow that blend seamlessly into the terrain, ready to swallow any player who steps into them without leather boots equipped.

Snowy Slopes generates in cold to moderately cold temperature zones with low humidity, frequently sharing borders with jagged peaks and frozen peaks at greater elevations, while meadows and cherry groves often appear in the valleys below. In the coldest regions, Snowy Slopes can stretch across entire valley floors, pushing out snowy plains and ice spikes biomes. Notably, it is the only mountain biome in which igloos can generate, and pillager outposts may also appear scattered across its terrain.

Beneath the surface, Snowy Slopes hides deposits of emerald ore alongside patches of infested stone. As a mountain biome, it nearly always sits directly above deep dark caverns, and dripstone caves are a frequent presence underground as well. Players venturing here should come prepared for the hazards lurking both above and below ground.

The characteristic passive mobs of Snowy Slopes include goats, snowy rabbits, and polar bears. At night, stray skeletons replace ordinary skeletons in the hostile mob roster, adding an extra layer of danger to after-dark exploration on these frozen slopes.
