How do I find an igloo in Minecraft?

Use the interactive seed-map finder on this page: enter your world seed and it plots the exact coordinates of every igloo in your world. Travel to those X/Z coordinates in any snowy biome, and look for the small snow-block hut with a carpet inside that may hide a basement.

What biome do igloos spawn in?

Igloos generate only in snowy Overworld biomes: Snowy Plains, Snowy Taiga, and (rarely) Snowy Slopes. They are surface structures, so you will see the little snow-and-ice hut sitting on top of the snow.

What loot and mobs are inside an igloo basement?

Some igloos hide a basement reached by a trapdoor under the carpet. It contains a brewing stand, a captive Villager and Zombie Villager (so you can cure the zombie for very cheap trades), and a loot chest that can hold a golden apple along with emeralds, gold nuggets, and other supplies.

Igloo

generated

Igloo is a generated structure in Minecraft. It is home to Villager and Zombie Villager. Its chests can contain Golden Apple, Coal, Apple, Wheat, and Gold Nugget.

Igloo is a small structure that generates in snowy taigas, snowy plains, and snowy slopes. It is made mostly of snow blocks and contains a basic interior with a bed, furnace, crafting table, and a redstone torch for lighting. Windows are made of ice in Java Edition.

Some igloos include a hidden basement beneath a trapdoor under the carpet. The basement is made of stone bricks, some of them infested with silverfish. It contains a brewing stand with a splash potion of weakness, a cauldron, a flower pot with a cactus, and a chest holding a golden apple.

Behind iron bars, a villager and a zombie villager are caged, presenting the setup for a curing tutorial.

Igloos without basements have a snow block instead of a trapdoor and lack the special features below. The structure can generate partially elevated, with the basement still forming underground.
