Coal is an item in Minecraft. It is crafted from Block of Coal ×1. It is used to make Fire Charge, Campfire, Torch, and 3 more.

Coal is a common mineral obtained by mining Coal ore or looting chests in mineshafts and villages. It is primarily used as a fuel source and a crafting ingredient for various items.

Coal is the most efficient early-game fuel, capable of smelting eight items per piece in a furnace, smoker, or blast furnace. It can also be crafted into torches, campfires, and soul torches.

Coal can be traded with novice-level armorer, toolsmith, and weaponsmith villagers for emeralds, an easy way to earn them. It is plentiful, and it serves for fuel, lighting, and trading.
