It is a common food source and can be caught using a fishing rod or captured in a water bucket for transport. Cod drop 1 raw Cod (or cooked Cod if killed with fire), 0–2 bones, and 1–3 experience when killed by a player or tamed wolf. Cod cannot be bred, but they can be caught with a water bucket and placed in custom aquariums or fish farms.
Cod swim in schools, moving in random patterns, and occasionally jump above water. They are hunted by polar bears and axolotls, making them a key part of the aquatic food chain. When placed on land, Cod flop around briefly before suffocating.
